There are few cartoons that have had the cultural impact and pop culture influence as Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head. I fell in love with this series from the moment I saw it 1993. I then saw the original Frog Baseball short that kicked off on MTV’s animated series Liquid Television and knew this was something that was going to be around for some time. In 1996 the boys made the transition to the big screen with their feature film Beavis and Butthead Do America. Now the film is celebrating its 25th anniversary with finally getting the Blu-ray treatment.

Beavis and Butthead Do America follows the brainless pair as they set off on a nacho-fueled road trip to find their stolen TV and score with some hot chicks.  Along the way, the metal-head morons become entangled with one nefarious character after another, eventually ending up stranded in the desert and hallucinating in a mind-altering sequence based on and including artwork by musician and artist Rob Zombie.

I remember seeing this film in theaters and loving every minute of its ridiculousness. When making TV shows like this into films you have to step things up to a bigger scale. They did that almost across the board with the only

thing I had wished they went all in for a rated R feature, but also know they were trying to get the broader audience. It doesn’t hurt the film as it delivers everything you want from dumbasses and still makes me laugh to this day.

I was a bit worried how well it would hold up both in the humor and animation department. The laughs are still there for me with my love of the immature, but that is why these characters are who they are. The animation style is obviously dated, but I love it and it looks great with this release. This film not only made me laugh once again, but also miss them even more. The world needs more Beavis and Butthead, but until that happens this is a welcome substitute.

In addition to the film this release offers up bonus content including commentary, trailer, TV Spots, featurettes and more. Grab your copy of Beavis and Butthead Do America 25th Anniversary Edition when it hits Blu-ray for the first time on December 7th from Paramount Home Entertainment.
