Collector’s Edition 4K           review by Bobby Blakey

Through the years the Creepshow brand has spawned into a variety of comics, films and TV series. IT all started with the original film in 1982 from director George A. Romero and writer Stephen King. The anthology film features a great cast including Hal Holbrook, Adrienne Barbeau, Leslie Nielsen, Ted Danson, E.G. Marshall and Stephen King himself. Now Shout Factory is bringing the classic film home with an all-new Collector’s Edition on 4K.

Creepshow follows five tales based on the comic series of the same name. The first deals with a demented old man returning from the grave to get the Father's Day cake his murdering daughter never gave him. The second is about a not-too-bright farmer discovering a meteor that turns everything into plant-life. The third is about a vengeful husband burying his wife and her lover up to their necks on the beach. The fourth is about a creature that resides in a crate under the steps of a college. The final story is about an ultra-rich businessman who gets his comeuppance from cockroaches.

I fell in love with this movie as a kid and had it on constant rotation anytime I could find it. My best friend and I used to watch it and found ourselves quoting from it often most notably from the “They’re Creeping Up On You!” segment. Revisiting it once again I was a bit worried that it might not have the same magic, but thankfully I was wrong and it was just as fun and awesome as ever.

The old school vibe and fun stories make for a unique experience all its own. Each story offers up something fun and compelling whether it be a creature, gore or just some filly grass mass growth. It all just works and even knowing what’s to come I still love each and every moment. Tom Savini and his team did some awesome work as usual here that all still holds up even in its most

ridiculous moments. The stories are creepy, funny, weird and all around awesome from beginning to end.

This new 4K edition looks better than ever further enhancing the visual spectical of it all especially the comic style moments that I love so much when someone is terrified. This film itself and its enhanced looks is reason enough to get this new collection, but it also features bonus content including commentaries, galleries, featurettes and so much more.

As if that wasn’t enough, if you order from you can get an exclusive 18 x 24 rolled poster of the original theatrical artwork, a second exclusive 24 x 36 rolled poster featuring a new design, two slipcovers, a retro prism sticker, a Limited Edition enamel pin set via Gutter Garbs, and a Limited Edition lobby card set via Gutter Garbs.
