“Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the DVD I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share are my own.”

For years I was never a big fan of Scooby-Doo!, but after the more recent animated features and the big screen feature Scoob! I guess I am going to have to change my tone since I have been having fun with them. Now the gang is back once again with the new animated feature Happy Halloween Scooby-Doo!, but does it bring the same fun fans love or will it not be worth trick or treating for?

Happy Halloween Scooby-Doo! follows Scooby-Doo and the gang as they team up with their pals, Bill Nye the Science Guy and Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, to solve a mystery of gigantic proportions and save Crystal Cove when their favorite holiday turns sour when the neighborhood pumpkin patch is infected by toxic ooze, creating high-flying jack-o-lanters, and a king-sized pumpkin leader squashing everything in its path.

This latest adventure in mystery offers up everything the fans want and like with most of their films recently brings in some guest to help out. The Halloween theme brings a fun tone to it that works perfectly from bringing in Elvira Mistress of the Dark. She has some fun classic moments for her own character that respects the legacy, but also pokes fun at itself.

The dangers of the ghosts and creatures feels bigger this time around and the connection to a famed Batman villain in the mix further makes it all the more enjoyable. The animation is well done and keeps the look and feel of the long running franchise intact while still making it feel current. I love that Warner Bros keeps diving deeper into their properties on these films to make the universe bigger than just another average mystery to solve.

This isn’t anything overly new, but the addition of the guests and unexpected villain made it a lot more entertaining than I honestly expected it to be. IF you are a fan of Scooby and the gang then you will no doubt have a blast with this one as well. In addition to the feature film this release also offers up three bonus cartoons for fans to enjoy.
