During the 80s there were so many great and cheesy films that have stood the test of time for various reasons. This time period also brought along plenty of sex themed comedies including the 1984 film Hardbodies from director Mark Griffiths and starring Grant Cramer, Gary Wood, Michael Rapport, Sorrells Pickard, abnd Courtney Gains. Now fans can bring this cult classic action comedy home to Blu-ray in an all-new retro VHS style packaging.

Hardbodies follows three middle-aged daddies who visit California to have a marvelous time at the beach. When they learn that a nice apartment and an expensive cabriolet isn't enough for them to score with the chicks, they employ a student to help them. At first he's as disgusted of them and his job as his girlfriend, but soon they find out how to use the situation to everyone's benefit. This film is the perfect example of every one of these types of films that were released then and there is no way it would easily be greenlit today.

The story is simple and pretty funny with a lot of cringe worth moments of sexuality that will no doubt be looked at differently in today’s current climate.

 

IF you can get past that and remember when this film was made it still holds up as a fun time if you enjoyed these kinds of comedies back then. I was never allowed to watch them but still manage to check a lot out on the late night cable channels and this was one of them. There are so many just silly moments that it had me laughing to how awesome I thought it was back then. Clearly it was my hormones focusing on the film more than the actual film itself. Another fun thing to look out for but you will have to pay close attention is the appearance by a young Kane Hodder doing some stunt and acting work that added to the fun of redescovering this film.

In the end this is one of those that screams all things 80s and offers up everything you could want from an 80s after dark comedy including boobs, parties and that constant pursuit to score with that sexy member of the opposite sex. This release doesn’t offer up any bonus content, but this fun new packaging along with the 80s sex and cheese of it all make it one worth picking up.
