Illumination 10-Movie Collection review by Bobby Blakey
Every so often studios release collections of their films that offer a great chance and value to get a hold of films you might not have bought otherwise. A lot of times they don’t make a lot sense to why these were chosen, but that’s not always the case. Universal is now releasing numerous focused collections that feature 10 movies from that specific catalog including the Illumination 10-Movie Collection.
This collection brings together a wide variety of films across their filmography including Despicable Me (2010), Despicable Me 2 (2013), Despicable Me 3 (2017), Minions (2015), The Secret Life of Pets (2016), The Secret Life of Pets 2 (2019), Sing (2016), Hop, Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax (2012), and Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch (2018).
Collections of this size are hard to review each film because it would go on forever, so instead let’s talk about them as a whole and the benefit to this collection. Illumination has brought some great animated films over the years with Despicable Me being one of my favorites. I love that this collection brought all three of the films and minions together in one place making it the perfect collection to prepare for the fourth film all while being able to enjoy so many more. This collection clearly had a dual theme outside of Illumination and bringing the carrying sequels together for Life
of Pets and the Dr. Seuss films that helps to be able to dive right in.
I think the only film here that didn’t work for me was probably Hop, but even that is still decent enough. All of them here are such fun films with beautiful and vibrant animation that stands all its own making this a must have collection. In addition to all 10 films which is enough of a reason to get this set it also offers up bonus features including mini-movies, music and sing-alongs, games and more.
Prepare for the laughs, chaos and heart with the Illumination 10-Movie Collection available now on Blu-ray from Universal Home Entertainment. In addition to this awesome set they have also released 3 others 10-film collections focusing on Blumhouse of Horrors, Dreamworks and Focus Features all available now from Universal Home Entertainment.
