DC continues to churn out some truly awesome animated features including The Dark Knight Returns and most recently the double feature of The Death Of Superman and Reign of the Supermen. Now they are returning to the look and style of the popular JL animated series with Justice League vs The Fatal Five featuring the return of Kevin Conroy, Susan Eisenberg and George Newbern as Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman in addition to Elyes Gabel as Star Boy and Diane Guerrero as Green Lantern. Could this be another awesome addition to the DC animated universe or will the league finally fall?

Justice League vs. The Fatal Five finds the Earth’s future hanging in the balance when the Justice League faces a powerful new threat – the Fatal Five. Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman seek answers as the time-traveling trio of Mano, Persuader and Tharok terrorize Metropolis in search of budding Green Lantern, Jessica Cruz – whom they need to free remaining Fatal Five members Emerald Empress and Validus in order to carry out their sinister plan.  But the Justice League discover an ally from another time in the peculiar Star Boy – brimming with volatile power, could he be the key to thwarting the Fatal Five? An epic battle against ultimate evil awaits!

I have loved pretty much every one of the DC animated films lately, but this one is not only great it brings that nostalgia with it to make it one of the best for me. I loved that they returned to the original cast and animation style but also stepped up the game of the film itself. This fully plays up as a film spin-off from the original Justice League TV series but makes sure to steps its game up to give it a bigger scope and even more action. The voice cast all do a great job and the story is a ton of fun. Allowing the story to focus on new characters makes it feel fresh while allowing the iconic group keep it grounded in the original nature of the old series.

I hope this isn’t the last time we return to this version of the animated universe because it is just awesome in every way. The slick animation, vibrant color, classic look and iconic voices this latest addition to the DCU animated library will no doubt be a favorite to the fans.

In addition to the film this release includes bonus content including commentary, featurettes, a look at previous releases, episodes from the DC vault and a sneak peek at the next animated feature Batman, Hush. Join the battle against the Fatal Five with Justice League vs. Fatal Five available now on digital, 4K Ultra, Blu-ray and DVD from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.
