LEGO DC Comics Superheroes:
Justice League: Gotham City Breakout
by Bobby Blakey

DC Entertainment has been churning out the animated features left and right with each of them hitting the mark to almost perfection. In addition they have teamed up with LEGO to deliver some hilarious adventures and looks like it may be a partnership that is going to last for a long time. Their latest LEGO Super Heroes: Justice League: Gotham City Breakout looks to bring the adventure and laughs once again, but can it once again build up the fun or will it fall apart before snapping together?
LEGO Super Heroes: Justice League: Gotham City Breakout follows Batgirl and Nightwing who take Batman on a trip down memory lane to visit one of the key mentors from his formative years and it’s up to the Justice League to keep Gotham City crime-free. But neither situation proves to be a “vacation” as the Bat trio encounters old nemeses on their adventure and the Justice League discovers just how busy Batman is on a regular basis. It’s a brick-tastic battle on two fronts as Batman, Batgirl and Nightwing take on Bane and Deathstroke, while the Justice League with some help from a few Teen Titans fends off an assault by many of Batman’s infamous adversaries to ensure Gotham City’s safety. Many of the voice cast from the previous films in this series return along with some new ones including Troy Baker, Nolan North, Grey Griffin, Tom Kenny, John DiMaggio, Sarah Hyland, Tara Strong, Will Friedle as well as the popular cast of Teen Titans Go! Greg Cipes, Khary Payton, Scott Menville, and Hynden Walch. All of them knock it out of the park with their respective characters bringing their fun personalities to life while keeping the feeling of these characters intact.
It comes as no surprise that this film once again delivers all the fun and action fans have come to expect from the LEGO films. This one might be the best one of the LEGO Justice League films to date because it packs so much fun and great animation in one short film. The story is fun and action packed using using the theme of Batman’s vacation to catapult it to more action for the bat family as well as the Justice League all while using it as a running joke. The animation is better than ever and the wide array of visuals throughout the film bouncing from the two separate stories that are unfolding is yet another feast for the eyes. As with all of these films there is no shortage of laughs with each character getting a chance to shine and deliver some hilarious laugh out loud moments. There is a running gag about how Batman’s villains are weak and Gotham is so dirty from the other heroes which set up a great lesson for them to see what Batman really deals with.
This latest release not only includes the film, but the combo pack will feature an exclusive LEGO Nightwing figurine while supplies last. Join in on their next battling building adventure when LEGO DC Super Heroes: Justice League: Gotham City Breakout hits Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital HD on July 12th from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.
