Olaf Presents review by Bobby Blakey
In 2013 the world was introduced to the latest Disney animated feature Frozen that went on to be a mega hit that spawned a feature sequel, TV specials, numerous shorts and so much more. The most memorable character to come out of the series is that of Olaf voiced by the always entertaining Josh Gad. Now he is getting a new series of shorts with Olaf Presnts with veteran Disney animator Hyrum Osmond directing and Jennifer Newfield producing.
Olaf Presents follows Olaf who steps into the spotlight and goes from snowman to showman as he takes on the roles of producer, actor, costumer and set builder for his unique “retelling” of five favorite Disney animated tales in “Olaf Presents,” a series of new animated shorts from Walt Disney Animation Studios. The charismatic and versatile Olaf demonstrates his theatrical flair, taking on such iconic roles as a mermaid, a genie, a lion king (and most of the parts in between), as he entertains Arendelle with his delightful abbreviated versions of these beloved tales.
I have never been a fan of the Frozen franchise.
Honestly outside of Olaf himself I thought the films were overrated and baffled by their popularity. That being said these new shorts are pretty creative and funny. With running only about two minutes they get to the point and not only deliver the laughs, but pack a lot into each one. It’s pretty impressive the clever ways they have Olaf retell these classic stories without leaving too much out.
You don’t have to be a massive fan of Frozen or even the films he is reenacting
to be entertained, you just need a sense of humor. The animation is beautiful as usual and offers up everything Disney fans would want making for a fun quick cold dive through memory lane from the mind of a frozen goofball.
Join in on the fun and check out Olaf Presents when the series launches exclusively on Disney+ on Nov. 12, 2021.
