Return to Return to Nuke ‘Em High aka Vol. 2 review by Bobby Blakey
For 40 years iconic independent filmmaker Lloyd Kaufman and his Tromaverse has been bringing some of the most outrageous films to the masses including their flagship character The Toxic Avenger and Poultrygeist. In 2013 they returned to the world of their 1986 classic Class of Nuke ‘Em High, but instead of a remake they continued the story with the release of Return to Nuke ‘Em High: Volume 1. The film ended on a cliffhanger and fans have been eagerly awaiting Volume 2 and finally after years of waiting the time has come with the follow up Return to Return to Nuke ‘Em High aka Vol. 2, but does it offer more of the same gooey naked fun or will it fail to infest the fans?

Return to Return to Nuke ‘Em High aka Vol. 2 follows the compelling adventure of Lauren and Chrissy, two lesbian lovers who must face and defeat the most corrupt and evil forces ever to descend upon Tromaville…and the world! When a perverse conspiracy is launched by the demented CEO of a multi-national “organic food” company, our heroines become embroiled in a death defying fight to restore their own humanity, while at the same time saving the entire world from enslavement and the apocalypse. Let’s be honest if are watching this movie then you already know what you are in for so if you complain or are offended then you deserve it. We have been waiting too long for this second chapter but I can say that it is well worth the wait bringing all the same insanity, sex and grossness you expect.

Much like the first film the cast are fine offering up everything from good to bad to over the top and all vintage Troma. This chapter wastes no time jumping right in to give you a recap from the previous film with Stan Lee lending his voice again, but with a new twist to it. The film jumps right into the craziness with a tribute to Carrie before fully cutting loose and pulling no punches. One of the things that make both of these films so fun is the clear all in mentality to make sure that it pulls no punches. Everything fans love about the Tromaverse are

front and center on display and a hell of a lot of fun. I didn’t think they could get more outrageous but they did so in spades. As if the film and having Stan Lee make a great cameo this film features a fun cameo from Impractical Joker Murr as well as the original Melvin from the Toxic Avenger actor Mark Togl who takes on the role of the janitor with a great memorable moment.

Troma movies are the kind of thing you either love or hate. They do not try to be anything other than what they are and Kaufman puts his own unique mark on them every time. They may not get the wide release, but they deserve the support as independent cinema and the reason this sort of thing still thrives. After 40 years Kaufman is still the man and once again creates a gross out load of fun for fans that need their fix from the world of Troma.

This release offers up loads of bonus content in a 2 disc set including trailers, behind the scenes features, short films and so much more. Head back to Tromaville and grab your copy of Return to Return to Nuke 'Em High aka Vol. 2 when it hits Blu-ray on November 12th from Troma.
