Stories of people being imprisoned in other countries are terrifying to me. Being in jail is bad enough, but if you end up there in a country you don’t know with laws and regulations that are unknown makes it all scarier. The latest film Stillwater starring Matt Damon, Abigail Breslin, and Camille Cottin with Spotlight and The Station Agent director Tom McCarthy at the helm.

Stillwater follows an American oil-rig roughneck from Oklahoma who travels to Marseille to visit his estranged daughter, in prison for a murder she claims she did not commit. Confronted with language barriers, cultural differences, and a complicated legal system, Bill builds a new life for himself in France as he makes it his personal mission to exonerate his daughter.

While you have to wait until July 30th to see the film in theaters, you can check out the poster and trailer here now from Focus Features and Dreamworks.
