Before he took on the DC Universe Zack Snyder unleashed the fury of Frank Millers Graphic Novel 300 to the big screen to much acclaim. The 2006 film stars Gerard Butler, Lena Headey, Michael Fassbender, Dominic West, and Rodrigo Santoro. Now Warner Bros is bringing the groundbreaking film to 4K for the first time ever.

300 follows the Persian king Xerxes who sends his massive army to conquer Greece. The Greek city of Sparta houses its finest warriors, and 300 of these soldiers are chosen to meet the Persians at Thermopylae, engaging the soldiers in a narrow canyon where they cannot take full advantage of their numbers. The battle is a suicide mission, meant to buy time for the rest of the Greek forces to prepare for the invasion. However, that doesn't stop the Spartans from throwing their hearts into the fray, determined to take as many Persians as possible with them.

I love this movie and it still holds up in all its violent glory. It takes everything that you might love from a war movie with a gladiator/warrior like twist and turns it on its head. I was so glad they went with the Frank Miller adaptation of this story that brings in the fantasy elements that really elevates it to a new level. This film was and still is in a league all its own even to this day. Revisiting it for the first time in a while I was worried it might not hold up but it still kicks all kinds of ass.

This new 4K transfer further enhances the dark color palates and gritty tone to it all. Being mostly CGI with the background and blood I thought it might fall short in HD, but it is still as glorious as ever. This new version of the film brings it to glorious HD and the perfect way to revisit it or experience it for the first time ever.

In addition to the film in HD this release is loaded with bonus content including commentary, additional scenes, on set webisodes, featurettes and more. Grab your copy of 300 on 4K Ultra HD for the first time ever available now from Warner Bros Home Entertainment.
