Baby Assassins 3
review by Bobby Blakey

In 2021 director Hugo Sakamoto unleashed the duo of Akari Takaishi and Saori Izawa in the action film Baby Assassins. The film did well enough to spawn a sequel in 2023 that stepped up the action and fun as well as a TV series Baby Assassina: Everyday! that sadly hasn’t been released in the US yet. Now Writer/Director Sakamoto Yugo and action director Sonomura Kensuke are back together for Baby Assassins 3 along with stars Akari Takaishi and Saori Izawa. Can this latest entry keep the fun and action going or will it fail to hit its mark?
Baby Assassins 3 follows Chisato and Mahiro at the apex of their skills as they take on a brutally nihilist freelance killer who aims to take their place atop the assassin food chain. This entry promises to be the most exciting and dangerous chapter in the Baby Assassins saga to date. This time, it’s a fight for their lives.
I love this franchise with all the quirkiness and hyper violence it is the perfect formula. The real winning aspect of this series are stars Takaishi and Izawa who bring great chemistry and fun while handling the action like a pro. They are so fun to watch in every aspect, but leaning into their lives and often awkward interactions is just as much fun as the gun fights and fight sequences.
This next chapter not only brings more of the same awesome fun but also evolves their relationship and skills to the next level. You get to see them both in a different light than previously that showcases their stronger bond and attempt at living a normal life before getting pulled right back into business. The new characters all add a great new element to the series on both sides of their gun sights. One assassin they must deal with now could have easily fallen flat but strengthen their skills and personas as they are all tested and dysfunctional.
The fun banter and character development is fun on its own but have no fear they bring the action as always and better than ever. I think they get more action this time around and stepped it up in every way. There are some insanely fun gun fu sequences as well as the expected big fight sequences that bring more badass moves and blood. Each of the films get better everytime and this one does it once again.
I hope this isn’t the last time we see these two awesome ladies and eagerly await for the TV series to get a US release. Until then we at least have all three of these fun and badass flicks to enjoy that delivered on every level.
Decide for yourself and check out Baby Assassins 3 on digital and Blu-ray on August 26th from Well Go USA.
