Car Wash
Collector's Edition
review by Bobby Blakey
I love the old 70s comedies that were just all over the place in relation to the story. Most of these movies would not be able to get maid today which makes them all the more fun. Another great film of the time hitting the Shout Factory Select brand is Michael Schulz’s 1976 comedy Car Wash starring Antonio Fargas, Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Bill Duke, The Pointer Sisters, and Garrett Morris coming to Blu-ray and DVD in an all-new Collector’s Edition.

Car Wash follows a close-knit group of employees who one day have all manner of strange visitors coming onto their forecourt, including a preaching 'wonder-man' who is loved by most but loathed by one, and a man who looks like a thief by the way he is holding his bottle, but it is really his urine sample as he is off to the hospital. T.C's love life takes a turn for the better and the songs keep coming. This is one of those ensemble comedies that has no real rhyme or reason, it just follows the drama and antics of all the employees working there. There are so many great moments in this film that always entertains without forcing any kind of agenda or lame story arc just to fill in the space. Instead it just is what it is and lets these characters just do their thing to hilarious results. This is kind of an acquired taste as some may not see the humor in it, but some of it is buying into the time period and others is just enjoying seeing the craziness of them all.

This new release not only includes the film it also features numerous bonus features including radio spots, trailer, commentary, and featurettes taking you behind this classic comedy. Join in on the fun and bob your head to the classic soundtrack with Car Wash available now on Blu-ray and DVD from Shout Factory Select.
