Catch Me If You Can 4K             review by Bobby Blakey

Director Steven Spielberg is one of the greatest directors of all time, bringing so many great films to the masses throughout his impressive career. He has taken on almost every genre and worked with the Who’s Who of Hollywood elite. In 2002 he teamed up with frequent collaborator Tom Hanks along with Leonardo DiCaprio for the feature Catch Me If You Can so-starring Christopher Walken, Martin Sheen, Amy Adams, Elizabeth Banks, and James Brolin.

Catch Me If You Can follows the true story about Frank Abagnale Jr. who, before his 19th birthday, successfully conned millions of dollars’ worth of checks as a Pan Am pilot, doctor, and legal prosecutor. An FBI agent makes it his mission to put him behind bars. But Frank not only eludes capture, he revels in the pursuit.

Leonardo DiCaprio is another of those actors that dominates and embodies every role he takes on. Once again, his role here is brilliantly executed and engaging throughout with it being over the top like some of his other roles. Abagnale is charming and makes you instantly root for him in all his insane endeavors while marveling that he could pull it off. I know there have been questions to the truth

to some of his claims, but here in the film they make for a great story that is so insane it can only be true.

The film flows well with the number of stories and chaos he leaves in his wake without ever feeling overloaded. Hanks’s agent is the calm to the chaos bringing a simple every man determined to catch his man. Due to the period this all takes place it is way easier to buy into all the varying jobs and scams he pulls off with each, more fascinating than the next. DiCaprio embodies every role he takes on and brings a vibrant energy that makes them all stand out with each showing his brilliance as an actor.

The film is fast paced and filled with a game of cat and mouse, love and a friendship of sorts that forges during all the crime and insanity. Every Spielberg film seems to stand the test of time which is just more proof of his genius as a filmmaker.

In addition to the feature this release offers up legacy bonus content including photo galleries, featurettes and more. Join the manhunt with Catch Me If You Can available now on 4K for the first time from Paramount Home Entertainment.
