In 2004 Guillermo del Toro teamed up with Ron Perlman to bring Mike Mignola’s comic creation Hellboy to the big screen. The film knocked it out of the park and spawned a sequel in 2008 that kept fans wanting more. Sadly it never seemed like we were going to see the character again, but in 2019 we got a reboot of the franchise instead of the sequel fans wanted to mixed results. Now Sony is giving fans a chance to revisit the original film in the franchise in honor of its 15th Anniversary by bringing Hellboy to 4K Ultra for the first time.

Hellboy follows a supernatural action adventure based on Mike Mignola's popular Dark Horse Comics series of the same name. Born in the flames of hell and brought to Earth as an infant to perpetrate evil, Hellboy (Ron Perlman) was rescued from sinister forces by the benevolent Dr. Broom (John Hurt), who raised him to be a hero. In Dr. Broom's secret Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense, Hellboy creates an unlikely family consisting of the telepathic "Mer-Man" Abe Sapien (Doug Jones) and Liz Sherman (Selma Blair), the woman he loves who can control fire. Hidden from the very society that they protect, they stand as the key line of defense against an evil madman who seeks to reclaim Hellboy to the dark side and use his powers to destroy mankind.

This release offers up a ton of bonus content including featurettes, trailers, commentaries, TV spots, photo galleries, animatics, and more including brand new featurettes exclusive to this 4K as well as both theatrical and director’s cuts of the film. Return to the war on hell when Hellboy hits 4K Ultra on October 15th from Sony Home Entertainment.
