Kill ‘Em All 2
 review by Bobby Blakey

I am a lifelong Jean Claude Van Damme fan so anytime I get the chance to feed my craving for Van Damage I am all in. His latest Kill ‘Em All 2, the follow-up to his 2017 action film, co-stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Peter Stormare and Maria Conchita Alonso from Re-Kill and Bullets of Justice director Valeri Milez at the helm. Could this sequel bring more action like its predecessor, or will it fail to kill them all this time around?

Kill ‘Em All 2 follows retired spy Phillip and his long-lost daughter, Vanessa, who are living peacefully off the grid in Italy seven years after the events of Kill ‘Em All. But when their whereabouts are discovered by Vlad, the vengeful brother of their previous target, they must do anything it takes to escape his merciless army. On the run, outnumbered, and fighting for their lives, father and daughter unite to save themselves and the village that Phillip once called home. To defeat Vlad’s men and rescue the innocent lives they’ve endangered, Phillip and Vanessa know the job isn’t done until the last bullet is fired.

The previous film offered up some decent enough action in a Die Hard like setting, so it was exciting to see more in this world. This time it branches out of the simple setting to give it a bigger scope that wasn’t necessary but does give it a chance to get more variety to the action. As much as I still enjoyed getting to see Van Damme kick some ass like he does, the film lost that intimate vibe that made the first film work more successfully. That doesn’t make this a bad film, just slower paced as it tries to complicate the narrative.

Like any sequel it tends to expand the world they created in the previous films and this one does just that but felt unnecessary. All the cast return in various ways with them throwing some new twists into the mix in hopes to make it more

compelling than a straight up actioner, but I would have preferred to let the action lead the film as fans are hoping for.

While still not the Van Damme of old, nor would I expect this there are still some decent action pieces that kept me entertained. No matter what you think of the man, he still has the agility, flexibility and action chops that cements him as an action star icon. This isn’t one of his stronger ones of late, but enough to feed my need for Van Damage and I can’t lie any chance to see him kick some ass I am there.

Decide for yourself and watch the bullets and feet fly with Kill ‘Em All 2 streaming now on Netflix as well as digital and DVD from Sony Home Entertainment.
