Throughout the 70s and 80s the fantasy genre was churning out films left and right. In 1983 director Peter Yates took the audience into the fantastical world of Krull. Mixed with a vibe of fantasy and sci-fi complete with a cyclops, creatures, magic and the coolest weapon ever the glaive the film became a cult classic. The film stars Ken Marshall, Lysette Anthony, Freddie Jones, Francesca Annis and a then unknown Liam Neeson in one of his early supporting roles.

 

Krull follows a world, filled with creatures of myth and magic, where a prince embarks on a quest to find the magical Glaive and then rescue his young bride. Colwyn is the leader of a mythical sword-and-sorcery group in pursuit of "the Beast" that has kidnapped his fiancée, Lyssa.

 

Now to celebrate the film’s new release the fantasy classic is getting the 4K treatment and offers up bonus content including commentary, trailer and a featurette. Return to the world of myth and magic when Krull comes to limited edition steelbook 4K on September 16th from Sony Home Entertainment.
