The Complete First Season                review by Bobby Blakey

Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm have been bringing a variety of new programming to Disney+ since its launch in 2019. Sadly, none of these shows were being released to physical media and could only be seen via the streaming service but that is all about to change. Now Disney is bringing a select group of the early releases home the God of Mischief himself in Loki starring Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-RawWunmi MosakuEugene CorderoTara StrongOwen WilsonSophia Di Martino, and Jonathan Majors.

Loki follows an alternate version of Loki who is brought to the mysterious Time Variance Authority (TVA), a bureaucratic organization that exists outside of time and space and monitors the timeline after stealing the Tesseract during the events of Avengers: Endgame. They give Loki a choice: face being erased from existence due to being a "time variant”, or help fix the timeline and stop a greater threat. Loki ends up in his own crime thriller, traveling through time, hunting a female version of himself named Sylvie.

I have never been a big fan of the Loki character, but admit that Tom Hiddleston is fantastic in the role. That being said I had zero interest in a TV series focusing on him, but must admit that it ended up being pretty good. Like most Marvel projects it directly connects in an interesting way directly from Endgame while taking it in its own direction. This is a fun new journey in the chaotic world of Loki but also sets up the future of where things have been going as of now in the MCU.

As much as I enjoyed it there are times where it drags and gets bogged down trying to inject stuff that I felt just didn’t move it along for any bigger
