NCIS: Tony & Ziva Season One
review by Drusilla Blakey

In 2003 the TV series NCIS, which spun out of the series JAG, hit the airwaves and has since headed into its 24th season. Since then, it has spawned its own franchise with seven spin-off series including NCIS: Tony & Ziva that came directly to Paramount+ but was canceled after one season. Now fans of the long running series can bring this latest entry home to complete their collection.
NCIS: Tony & Ziva picks up in Paris, where Ziva and Tony have been raising their daughter. When Tony’s security company is attacked, they must go on the run to uncover who is after them - while learning to trust each other again.
As an NCIS fan in its many varieties and iterations, I was genuinely excited to see two of our favorites reunited again. Tony and Ziva have always had a special kind of magic. That perfect blend of chemistry, banter, and emotional depth and the announcement of this series immediately felt like a gift to everyone who has followed their story over the years.
Fans of the original NCIS are absolutely going to love this box set. Getting to see Tony and Ziva reunited, not just for a cameo, but for a full season where their
relationship finally gets room to breathe is such a treat. The show follows that familiar NCIS formula: a season‑long mystery, a dangerous antagonist lurking in the background, and the team piecing together clues episode by episode. But this time, the emotional core feels richer.
The romantic tension between Tony and Ziva is still there, but it’s different now; more grounded, more mature, and honestly more satisfying. It finally feels like they get the chance to be happy, and longtime fans will appreciate seeing their love story play out instead of being cut short by circumstance.
One of the highlights of the season is their daughter. Now that she’s older, she plays a more active role in the story, and it adds a fresh dynamic that fits naturally into the world they’ve built. Watching the three of them navigate danger, family, and the past they share is genuinely enjoyable.
Of course, Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo remain the heart of the show. Their chemistry is still effortless, still electric, and still one of the best pairings in the entire NCIS universe. Weatherly in particular is a standout and a favorite of mine in any show I see him in, and he brings that same charm and warmth that made Tony DiNozzo iconic. And if the rumors are true that he may be returning to NCIS, this season feels like the perfect bridge.
Overall, the box set is well done and incredibly enjoyable. If you love crime dramas, any of the NCIS shows, or you’ve simply missed Tony and Ziva’s dynamic, this is absolutely worth watching.
