Scooby Doo! And Krypto, Too!                  review by Bobby Blakey

For years Scooby-Doo and the gang have been not only mainstay of kids cartoon watching, but they continue to do crazy mash ups with the characters. This is obviously not new to the franchise as they ran an entire series with the theme in the 1972 series The New Scooby-Doo Movies. Here is where they first teamed up with Batman and since have encounter him in numerous iterations of animation and comics. Now they are teaming up with another DC Comics character with Scooby-Doo! and Krypto, Too! bringing the two canines together for an all new adventure. Could this be another perfect match or will it be a mystery to high flying to solve?

Scooby Doo! And Krypto, Too! follows the world's greatest heroes, DC’s Justice League who have mysteriously vanished and a terrifying phantom has taken up residence in The Hall of Justice. Now it's up to the world's greatest super sleuths, Scooby and the gang, to solve the mystery and save our heroes...with a little help from their new pal Krypto the Superdog!

The film features a great voice cast of the usual people including Frank Welker as Scooby-Doo and Fred Jones, Matthew Lillard as Shaggy Rogers, Kate Micucci as Velma Dinkley and Grey Delisle as Daphne Blake as well as Wonder Woman. Also featured in the voice cast are P.J. Byrne as J.B., Victoria Grace as Mercy, Charles Halford as Lex Luthor, Nolan North as the Joker and Superman, Tara Strong as Helen, Lois Lane and Harley Quinn, Fred Tatasciore as Solomon Grundy and Perry White, James Arnold Taylor as Jimmy Olsen and Rex Ruthor and Niccole Thurman as Mayor Fleming.

Ever since the Krypto animated series back in 2005 I wondered why they hadn’t had him do any Scooby-Doo! stuff since they already had a clear universe setting for him. This film was originally announced and then sounded like it was a casualty of the tax breaks that Warner Bros were doing and looked like it was never getting released, but them it was leaked so no

idea what was really going on with it. I am so glad that it finally got its official release because this might be the most fun I have with a Scooby-Doo! flick ever.

It offers up a who’s who in the world of DC with the focus mostly on the villains, most notably the Legion of Doom. Now this isn’t the Legion of Doom of the old Super Friends show, but does feature some of them as well as some other great additions. Getting to see all these villains taking down the city while Mystery, Inc. is on the case is all kinds of fun. Have no fear the rest of the Justice League are here, but them missing is the mystery to be solved so they are sidelined most of the time allowing Scooby and Krypto to do their thing.

It is the usual animation from the previous Scooby flicks and works well with a story that is fun complete with all the tropes from the world of Scooby-Doo that fans expect. They even let the Mystery, Inc gang use some of the classic tools and gadgets of the Justice League, making them super heroes in their own right. This is a great opportunity for them to do more with these so I hope this isn’t a one off, but likely will be. Eve

In addition to the film this release offers up three bonus Scooby-Doo episodes for fans to dive into. Grab your copy of Scooby-Doo! and Krypto, Too! availalbe now on digital and DVD from Warner Bros and DC Comics.
