Singing In The Rain 4K review by Drusilla Blakey

Warner Bros has been diving into their classic library and getting new releases to a lot of their classics. Most of them are getting the 4K treatment with the latest being the 1952 classic Singing In The Rain which is celebrating its 50th Anniversary. Is the film lauded as the greatest musical films of all time even better in glorious 4K?
Singing in the Rain tells the story of Don Lockwood (Gene Kelly) and his leading lady Lina Lamont (Jean Hagen) who are stars of the silent movie era. However, talking pictures are now taking off so they try their hand at making a talkie. The only problem is that Lina has a voice made for silent pictures. In comes Kathy Selden (Debbie Reynolds) who becomes 'the voice' of Lina but in the process falls in love with Don.
This movie is an absolute classic. (Literally selected by the Library of Congress as a movie of historic and cultural significance) An amazing musical romance that has it all; singing, dancing, amazing sets, costumes, a good story, and great acting. As you watch, you are transported to a different time than what we have with modern musicals. This story really envelopes you and takes you on a journey. They certainly don't make them like this anymore and the dancing of Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O'Connor is something extraordinary and out of this world.
The story is a fairly simple one but what really brings life to it are the amazing dance numbers and huge elaborate sets in which the story is told. A simple conversation transforms into an amazing musical number and this helps keep you actively engaged in the story. If you haven't seen this movie, it really is a
must see. Can anyone do it better than Gene Kelly? Well, perhaps the only person that can is Donald O'Connor and when you see them side by side you are left in awe.
With classic songs like 'All I do is dream of you', 'Singing in the Rain', 'Make 'Em Laugh', 'You were meant for me', and 'Good Morning', you will for sure have heard of one of these songs even if you've never seen the film. So you might as well watch the original and be in the know. I promise you will be amazed at the grand scale of this classic musical experience.
In addition to the film this release offers up bonus content including trailer, commentary and a documentary diving into the film. Grab your copy of Singing In The Rain on 4K Ultra for the first time ever available now from Warner Bros Home Entertainment.
