Supernatural:
The Complete Fifteenth and Final Season review by Bobby Blakey
“Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the DVD I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share are my own.”
These days The CW has become probably best known for their series of DC live action superhero shows, but long before all of them there was their long running hit Supernatural. The show finally came to an end after its fifteenth season that offered up a great cap to the fan favorite series. Now Warner Bros is bringing the entire series home for fans to relive the Winchesters fight to save the world over and over.
Supernatural follows Sam and Dean Winchester as they follow their father's footsteps, hunting down evil supernatural creatures such as monsters, demons, and even fallen gods while trying to save innocent people along the way. Continuing the "family business" after their father's death, the brothers soon discovered that the "hunt" doesn't just involve slashing and hacking monsters and demons but also dealing with more powerful creatures such as angels, reapers, and even Death.
Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) and the angel Castiel (Misha Collins) have battled demons and angels, mythical creatures and monsters, in a seemingly unending quest to save the world. But in the final battle of the show’s 14th season, they faced off against God Himself (Rob Benedict) – refusing to kill
their surrogate nephilim son Jack (Alexander Calvert), and thus bringing about God’s decision to end this reality once and for all...

Part of the charm of this show was always the creative creatures and demons that the Winchesters are forced to hunt and this season was no exception. Gone is the case of the week, but they still manage to throw some of those in for good measure with most connecting to the bigger story of the finale. Knowing it is coming to a close it keeps you guessing to who is going to be returning, who will die and what the bigger plan of it all really is. They had so much content and story arcs to deal with from the series that it was a lot to wrap up, but also so much for them to play around in one last time.

This season took full advantage of its past to keep it moving along with all the action and emotion fans love in the show. The entire season kept the great momentum it had with the previous season, but admit I was a bit concerned with it heading towards its end. With fourteen seasons behind it they had plenty of time to plan out a great way to end it, but so many shows drop the ball at the last minute. I am happy to say that this show found a perfect way to bring it all together in a finale that not only honors the legacy of the characters and the show as a whole.
