   The Brady Bunch:
The Complete Series         review by Drusilla Blakey

What I love most about The Brady Bunch isn't just the show itself. It's what it reminds me of.

Watching these episodes again brings back memories of sitting with my brother and watching the Brady family navigate life together. In a lot of ways, that's probably why the series connected with me so much. While our family looked nothing like the Bradys, there was still something familiar about the relationships between brothers and sisters, the arguments, the misunderstandings, and the way everything somehow worked itself out by the end.

Revisiting the complete original series on DVD feels a little like opening a time capsule. The stories are wholesome, funny, and sometimes wonderfully ridiculous in the best possible way. There are certain moments that instantly take me back, like Marcia's unforgettable "Oh, my nose!" football incident, which remains one of the most iconic moments in television history. Then there are the Hawaii episodes with the cursed tiki idol, which felt genuinely adventurous when I was a kid. I also loved the episodes involving the family dog and building the doghouse. Growing up

with cats instead of dogs, those storylines always seemed especially fun and exciting to me.

Watching as an adult has given me a whole new appreciation for the series. The things that seemed completely normal as a child now have an extra layer of humor and nostalgia. Even the parody movies that lovingly poked fun at The Brady Bunch are hilarious to think about because now I can see what the joke was about.

The cast deserves a tremendous amount of credit for creating characters that still feel recognizable decades later. Florence Henderson will always be the gold standard of TV moms, bringing warmth and kindness to Carol Brady. Ann B. Davis as Alice might actually be my favorite character now. Her timing, wit, and ability to steal a scene with a single look are every bit as entertaining today as they were then.

And let's not forget the music. The Brady kids becoming a singing group was one of those uniquely '70s television moments that somehow worked. Looking back, it's fun to remember that friendly pop-culture rivalry with The Partridge Family. It added yet another layer to a show that was doing much more than telling simple family stories.

What stands out most after all these years is how sincere the series was. The Brady Bunch wasn't trying to be edgy or cynical. It was about family, belonging, forgiveness, and finding ways to love people even when they drive you crazy. Maybe that's why it continues to resonate with so many people.

For me, this DVD collection is more than a television series. It's nostalgia, comfort, and a reminder of time spent with my brother sharing laughs in front of the television. And honestly, that's what makes it worth revisiting. Some shows entertain us for a season. Others become part of our memories. The Brady Bunch is definitely one of those shows.
