The Fast and the Furious

There are few franchises that have surprised like that of The Fast and Furious. The original film rolled into cinemas back in 2001. It was such a major hit that it came as no surprise there was a sequel with 2 Fast 2 Furious, but it lost star Vin Diesel to many fans’ dismay. Since then, the franchise has reunited cast members from all the films into one cohesive team, lost some both on and off screen and added plenty of new faces through 9 films and one spin off. While fans are waiting for the last chapter to finally come to theaters, what better time to revisit the one that started it all on 4K for the first time.
The Fast and the Furious follows the turbo-charged streets of Los Angeles, where every night is a championship race. With nitro-boosted fury, Dominic Toretto rules the road, turning all his challengers into dust. He and his rival, Johnny Tran, are the boldest, the baddest and the best. Now, there's new rage on the road. They know he's tough, they know he's fast, but what they don't know is that he's a speed-crazed detective with enough drive and determination to come out the winner.
To be honest, I wasn’t a big fan of the original film when it came out. Not sure why as it has everything, I love in these kinds of films but maybe realizing it is essentially Point Break with cars just put me off since I love that film so much. Over the years it has not only grown on me, but I have become a big fan of the entire franchise. Through the years I have revisited this first film numerous times via marathons prepping for the new films so have an appreciation of how it started it all.
This film has been reviewed to death, and this latest release isn’t adding anything new to the film or the franchise, but it I give fans a chance to revisit
it in hi-def. The story holds up well and the cast are all great with them being apart of this for so long now you can’t help but see them as these characters and getting to revisit where it all started is always a fun retro return. The action holds up and is so well shot even knowing where it is going you get sucked right into each and every race.
It’s the kind of film that upon its initial release you would never think it would become the franchise it is, but when you revisit it you can’t see it any other way. This new 4K release amps up the visuals to give fans a great new experience, but also the kind of film that works with the gritty tone of it all.
