Zazie Beetz showcased her ability to kick ass with her turn as the comic character Domino in Deadpool 2. Now she is taking it to the next level with her latest film They Will Kill You co-starring Myha’La, Paterson Joseph, Tom Felton, Heather Graham, and Patricia Arquette from director Kirill Sokolov. Could this bring the promise of violent fun, or will it fail to make the final kill?

They Will Kill You follows a young woman who must survive the night at the Virgil, a demonic cult’s mysterious and twisted death-trap of a lair, before becoming their next offering in a uniquely brazen, big screen battle of epic kills and wickedly dark humor.

I knew from the first trailer that this movie was going to be hyper violent and seemed bonkers, but nothing like what I actual got. This is one of those insane films on every level that knows exactly what it is and leans into the insanity in the best way possible. It had a look and tone of something like Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino fused with visuals of a Wes Anderson film if he did horror. This isn’t a horror film by any means, but it just gives you an idea of its look.

The story is a simple set up that takes moments to go back to explain stuff when needed but doesn’t try to make it any deeper than it needs to be. It goes all in with the hyper violence and spewing blood to almost laughable levels and I loved it. It’s not all that hard to figure out where this film is initially headed, but it goes off the rails in some wacked out direction that will probably lose some in the craziness, but I thought it made it even more entertaining.

The cast are all great and look to be having a great time at every bloody turn. Watching Felton, Graham and Arquette getting to cut loose in their insanity is fun to watch. Beetz carries the action well and you never once question her ability to kick ass making it more fun to watch as the blood flows freely throughout.

There isn’t much else to say without giving things away so if you can go in fresh but just know there will be blood and insanity a plenty.

I really hope this film finds the crazy audience that enjoys its over-the-top nature as we just don’t get enough like this one. Decide for yourself and check out They Will Kill You in theaters now from Warner Bros.
