One of the fun things about animated features that do well outside of possible sequels are the inevitable holiday special that hits TV or Blu-ray. Dreamworks has been churning them out for years and now are bringing an all-new collection home with the Ultimate Holiday Collection.

‘Tis the season to bring the family together with the DreamWorks Ultimate Holiday Collection! Get into the holiday spirit with Shrek, Po, Hiccup, Toothless, Poppy and many more as they celebrate the most wonderful time of the year. Featuring 9 festive stories with your favorite characters, this collection is perfect for everyone looking to add a little magic to their holidays. While I am not a fan of all the properties here I can say that every one of these still offer up some for everyone. It’s always a great time to see the clever directions they take the varying characters using the holidays as the back drop.

This particular collection focuses on the Christmas holiday and offers up all the hijinx you expect from each of the properties. There are a lot of fun moments through this collection that is a hilarious and heart felt fun time to spend with the whole family. This collection is already pretty cool with just the 8 specials, but they have also included the full length film Rise of the Guardians. I don’t think the film did as well as it should have upon its original release, but I loved it.

It you’ve never seen it, the film follows an evil spirit known as Pitch who lays down the gauntlet to take over the world, the immortal Guardians must join forces for the first time to protect the hopes, beliefs, and imaginations of children all over the world. The beautiful animation and superhero twist on all of the holidays made this a ton of fun. If you have never seen it then this is the perfect chance to check it out along with the other great holiday features.

Get into the holiday spirit with the Dreamworks Ultimate Holiday Collection available now on Blu-ray and DVD.
