       WandaVision:
The Complete Series

 review by Bobby Blakey

Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm have been bringing a variety of new programming to Disney+ since its launch in 2019. Sadly, none of these shows were being released to physical media and could only be seen via the streaming service but that is all about to change. Now Disney is bringing a select group of the early releases home with Loki: The Complete First Season recently and now WandaVision. The series stars Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Debra Jo Rupp, Fred Melamed, Kathryn Hahn, Teyonah Parris, Randall Park, Kat Dennings and Evan Peters.

WandaVision follows three weeks after the events of Avengers: Endgame, Wanda Maximoff and Vision are living an idyllic suburban life in the town of Westview, New Jersey, trying to conceal their true natures. As their surroundings begin to move through different decades and they encounter various television tropes, the couple suspects that things are not as they seem.

Of all the Marvel TV shows this one was the most inventive and one of my favorites. I was the first to say this was a stupid idea when it was announced, but I was so wrong. Right out the gate it wastes no time in making the viewer insanely confused to what is going on. With it following up directly after End Game it had big shoes to fill and managed to step things up and further push the MCU in new a new direction.

Both Bettany and Olsen are fantastic in every episode. Not only are they bringing new depth to Wanda and Vision, but with each episode they have to take on a different TV style persona and they knock it out of the park. Each episode is

creative, fun and all-around entertaining in every way. Each episode brings a different era of TV to the forefront and while it seems like it might be ridiculous it just works.

There are silly moments by design, but underneath it all there is a deeper story dealing with loss, betrayal and love. It pushes Wanda’s character forward in numerous ways that directly leads into Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness as well as giving us the origin story to Monica Rambeau and her powers leading towards The Marvels. One of the best sides of the show is the always great Kathryn Hahn who shines in every episode. She is the major player here that brings it all home and is getting her own spin-off show from it as well.

While fans may not have been connecting with as many of the entries of the films and shows since, I for one have been entertained by them all. This show stands above most of them all in both entertainment and moving the narrative forward for the future in a fun engaging way.

In addition to all 9 episodes of the season this release is loaded with bonus content including gag reel, deleted scenes, featurettes, and more as well as cool concept art cards. These new collections also include cohesive and collectible concept art cards designed by popular artist Attila Szarka.

Grab your copy of WandaVision: The Complete Series when it hits 4K and Blu-ray Steelbook on November 28th from Marvel Studios.
