Throughout the years there have been films that surprisingly became cult icons of pop culture as well as helped bring musical artists back to the forefront. One such is the 1992 SNL skit turned monster hit Wayne’s World starring Mike Myers, Dana Carvey, Rob Lowe, Tia Carrere, Donna Dixon, Alice Cooper, Lee Tergesen, and the late Chris Farley and Meatloaf. Now to celebrate the films 30th Anniversary they are bringing the film to Limited Edition Steelbook Blu-ray.

Wayne’s World follows Wayne who is still living at home. He has a world class collection of name tags from jobs he's tried, but he does have his own public access TV show. A local station decides to hire him and his sidekick, Garth, to do their show professionally and Wayne & Garth find that it is no longer the same. Wayne falls for a bass guitarist and uses his and Garth's Video contacts to help her career along, knowing that Ben Oliver, the sleazy advertising guy who is ruining their show will probably take her away from him if they fail.

I have not sat down and watched this movie in years, but back in the day it was on regular rotation. Diving back into it I was instantly transported back to the fun and ridiculous nature of it all and loved it all over again. Sure it is stupid, but that is part of the charm while being infused with heart. Myers and Carvey are comedy gold and this film not only made me laugh, but also reminded me that we just don’t get enough of either of them anymore.

This is one of those movies that not only entertains on pretty much every level it offers up so many iconic catch phrases and moments that are still quoted today. The laughs and heart are enough to make the film stand tall,

but filled with great music including being the first time some people ever hear Bohemian Rhapsody and kicked into a new generation and even more iconic today than ever. For a silly comedy this film has had an insanely massive impact on music and pop culture even 30 years later and still holds up as hilarious and fun.

Sadly this release doesn’t have any new featurettes, but does include commentary and interviews to hear stories about making the film. In addition to this new anniversary edition they will also be releasing a double feature Blu-ray featuring both films in the series.

Grab your copy of the 30th Anniversary Edition Steelbook and Double Feature of Wayne’s World when it hits stores on February 1st from Paramount.
