I love a good whodunit mystery when handled properly. The latest See How They Run brings in the world of theater and a period piece setting that always adds to the fun. The film stars Sam Rockwell, Saoirse Ronan, Adrien Brody, David Oyelowo, Ruth Wilson, Harris Dickinson, Shirley Henderson, Sian Clifford, Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, Reece Shearsmith, and Charlie Cooper from director Tom George. Could this murder mystery offer up a case worth investigating or will it best be unsolved?

See How They Run follows plans for a movie version of a smash-hit play that come to an abrupt halt after a pivotal member of the crew is murdered in the West End of 1950s London. When world-weary Inspector Stoppard and eager rookie Constable Stalker take on the case, the two find themselves thrown into a puzzling whodunit within the glamorously sordid theater underground, investigating the mysterious homicide at their own peril.

This film dives head first into the world of Agatha Christie quite literally using her famed play The Mousetrap as the jumping off point for the film complete with various true life figures being portrayed including Richard Attenborough and Christie herself. This sets the stage for a fun film that might not be perfect, but sure goes out of its way to entertain and embrace the whodunit aspect.

The cast are all great and look to be having a fun time throughout. Rockwell is pretty straight laced for the most part, but that plays up perfectly paired side by side with Ronan who is constantly making some great jokes that continues a running gag response. They are the heart of this movie and work perfect together as they navigate these fun characters trying to solve this case.

The rest of the cast all bring their A game from beginning to end offering up great memorable characters and twists and turn that keep you guessing until the end. As fun as the film is it does fall in the typical tropes that fail to allow it
