Ferris Bueller’s Day Off 4K             review by Bobby Blakey

The late great director John Hughes defined a generation with his takes on teen culture, family, life and laughs. Throughout his prolific career he delivered some of the most iconic comedies of all time that all hold up to this day to both new and old fans. Now Paramount is bringing one of his most iconic, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off to 4K for the first time ever.

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off follows the delightfully charming Ferris who, with his girlfriend Sloane and best bud Cameron, ditches school to enjoy one perfect day as a kid with no responsibilities. The film features a great cast including Matthew Broderick, Mia Sara, Alan Ruck, Jennifer Grey, Jeffery Jones and Edie McClurg.

This is easily my favorite John Hughes film with so many quotable lines and has been fully integrated into pop culture. The cast are great, the story is fun and we can all relate on just needing a day off. Of all the Hughes films this is the one that I have probably watched the most times and it just never gets old.

The movie has been reviewed a thousand times so not going to dive too much into it other than to brag about the genius of Broderick’s performance. He brings a innocent swag to the role that you can’t help but love and see why so many others buy into his nonsense. He is this movie, but coupled with Sara and Ruck it is just perfection. Despite his personal issues I still love Jones here. He is the perfect “villain” of sorts to Bueller and chews up every scene he is in.

This new 4K transfer looks great and just makes the film better than it already is. It is a classic film that holds up in every way worthy of this release.

This is the perfect chance for new audiences to discover it and old fans to see it in a fresh new way.

In addition to the film this release offers up bonus content including commentary, featurettes and more. Grab your copy of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off available now on 4K for the first time ever from Paramount Home Entertainment.
