The Complete Season 1 & 2               review by Bobby Blakey

There are so many great animated series out there, but most of the ones that are the most popular are more in the realm of comedy. When Final Space debuted in 2018 it brought the laughs, but also space adventure. Now with season three hitting in 2021 what better time to revisit the series with Final Space: The Complete First and Second Seasons, but does the show deliver or will it get lost in space for good?

Final Space follows an astronaut named Gary and his adorable, planet-destroying friend, Mooncake embark on a quest to unlock the mystery of "Final Space," the place where the entire universe ends. In Season two of Final Space things get even more wild as Gary restarts with a new ship and a new AI as they recover what’s left of his crew. Conan O’Brien reprises his role as Clarence, now a series regular, alongside Ron Funches and Ashly Burch as they embark on an epic mission to free the Titan Bolo. Along the way, Gary battles new villains led by Alan Tudyk, Christopher Judge and Gary’s Mom.

I have loved this show from the first episode but it somehow stepped its game up for the second season and became something even better. The stories offer up laughs, but also some pretty great serious nature to the light hearted nature of it. There are so many fun outrageous adventures to keep you entertained all wrapped up in a fairly heart felt story. This is a like watching anything like Star Trek, Star Wars, Babylon 5 etc. while still being its own thing.

The voice works is excellent, but for me it’s the animation and character design that really make it stand out. I love the look of the show and there are so many great visual moments that stand out it’s really hard to pick just one. While the look is obviously the same both seasons there is a different tone to season 2. It felt a lot darker and took the story into so many new directions that it really elevated what was already an excellent show.

I cannot wait for season three and hope it continues for many more seasons. It is one of my favorite animated series out there and brings all the action, laughs, fun and adventure that sci-fi fans could ever want.
