Through the years there have been numerous films focusing on little crazed creatures that offer up terror and laughs like only they can. During the height of these films in the 80s we got the likes of Critters and Ghoulies that both spawned their own franchises, but none were a bigger hit than Gremlins directed by Joe Dante and produced by Steven Spielberg. Now fans can revisit the classic with the 35th anniversary edition on 4K for the first time.

Gremlins follows a mild-mannered bank teller who releases hideous creatures after gaining a new pet and violating two of three simple rules: No water (violated), no food after midnight (violated), and no bright light. Hilarious mayhem and destruction in a town straight out of Norman Rockwell. So, when your washing machine blows up or your TV goes on the fritz, before you call the repair man, turn on all the lights and look under all the beds. 'Cause you never can tell, there just might be a gremlin in your house.

This is one of those movies that never seems to age despite it being made in the 80s and just gets better with time. It shouldn’t work with the puppets and over the top antics, but it does to perfection. This latest release makes it all the better with the 4K transfer that just takes this fun film to beautiful new heights. Of course it’s not like it could have been had it been shot then, but it still looks great. Despite the insanity and obvious attempt to make a scary comedy of sorts this movie does more to make you smile than jump. You cannot help but smile when Gizmo is on screen and even the rest of the gremlins when they are running rampant and killing.

I always forget how much I love this movie until I revisit it again. I could go on and on about how fun and awesome this movie is, but if you are one that missed out then you just need to fix it now. This release not only includes the film but bonus content including commentary, photo gallery, additional scenes, and numerous featurettes that take you behind bringing the Gremlins to life. Whether you are a new or old school hardcore fan then you will no doubt want a copy of the Gremlins 35th Anniversary Edition on 4K Ultra available now from Warner Bros.
