  Puppet Master:

Axis Termination

        review by Bobby Blakey

The long running Puppet Master franchise that kicked off back in 1989 is still going strong. The latest story arcs have taken the famed puppets to the world of the Nazi with the Axis Saga that started in Axis of Evil and then continued in Axis Rising and is offering up its final chapter with Puppet Master: Axis Termination starring Paul Logan and Tonya Kay with Charles Band at the helm once again. Does this latyest chapter of the long running franchise offer up more of the same pint size violent fun or will its strings finally break?

Puppet Master: Axis Termination follows everyone's favorite pint-sized puppet anti-heroes- Blade, Pinhead, Tunneler, Jester, Six Shooter, and Leech Woman - join forces with a secret team of psychics working as Allied Operatives. Teaming up with Toulon's bloodthirsty marionettes, these unlikely allies face off against a new pack of evil Nazis and their even more malevolent Axis Puppets in a showdown that will decide the future of the free world! Like all these films, the story is pretty simple but still delivers the over the top crazy antics expected of the series. The acting is ok, with a couple of performances that were way over the top creating some entertaining and fun characters. The always cool Tonya Kay takes on a great role here bringing her usual charm to the role while fully immersing into the fun Nazi nature of the whole thing. It is also fun seeing Paul Logan taking on a role like this as opposed to his usual action parts and fit right in.

Thanks to the direct connection to the last two films, it continues to move faster than the previous films but still has some slow moments here and there. None of the issues with the film really matters, the puppets are the driving force here. All the favorites return to form as only they can with Charles Band once again showing how he can bring them to epic fun life. There is plenty of blood and fun here to keep fans of the franchise entertained like only these movies can.
