There are so many great cartoons out there, but few have had the impact and secured the fanbase like Rick and Morty. After only three seasons the show has not only garnered tons of fans, but also comics, games, merchandise and more. The show has already received a long term deal of up to ten seasons so what better time than now to revisit the first six seasons before the new one arrives?

Rick and Morty revolve around the adventures of the members of the Smith household, which consists of parents Jerry and Beth, their children Summer and Morty, and Beth's father, Rick Sanchez, who lives with them as a guest. Rick is an eccentric and alcoholic mad scientist, who eschews many ordinary conventions such as school, marriage, love, and family. He frequently goes on adventures with his 14-year-old grandson, Morty, a kind-hearted but easily distressed boy, whose naïve but grounded moral compass plays counterpoint to Rick's Machiavellian ego. Morty's 17-year-old sister, Summer, is a more conventional teenager, who worries about improving her status among her peers and sometimes follows Rick and Morty on their adventures. The kids' mother, Beth, is a generally level-

headed person and assertive force in the household, though self-conscious about her professional role as a horse surgeon. She is dissatisfied with her marriage to Jerry, a simple-minded and insecure person, who disapproves of Rick's influence over his family.

To say this show is genius is an understatement. There is just so much in every episode from the laughs to the attention to detail in the universes they travel too. If you have never seen the show, it kicks off already happening and kind of throws you for a loop, but you quickly realize there is no time for set-up and you will learn all about these characters as it moves forward. While the series might be titled Rick and Morty as the show has evolved it has become very much about all the characters with all of them getting some great arcs.

I love the classic animation style that offers up simplistic visuals that are still highly complex and visually pleasing to the eye. The vibrant colors are regularly splashed with blood and bodily fluids in some pretty wacked out ways and only add to the shows greatness. The voice acting is awesome across the board and there isn’t a single character you can’t wait to see again. Like most shows there are plenty of reoccurring themes and characters that keep the show evolving while maintaining its overall ridiculous nature throughout.

Each season gets better and better. They continue to push the boundaries and really bring in some great fun, homages and over the top antics that are both original and familiar. It’s amazing how they find so many over the top directions that work at their best when the most ridiculous. All six seasons knock it out of the park in every way and is impressive that there aren’t any episodes that don’t work. One of my all-time favorites being a more recent episode in season six throwing around Die Hard references that had me cracking up.

I cannot wait for another season and see why people like to revisit these existing ones so often. This new collection is the perfect set for those looking to dive back in, but also to get these six seasons in a nice compact set for your shelf.

This collection features all 61 episodes from all six seasons, plus all the bonus materials that have been lovingly created over the years from the previous season releases. Grab your copy of Rick and Morty: The Complete Season 1-6 when it hits Blu-ray and DVD on September 12th from Adult Swim and Warner Bros Home Entertainment.
