“Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the DVD I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share are my own.”

For years Scooby-Doo and the gang have been not only mainstay of kids cartoon watching, but they continue to do crazy mash ups with other the characters to this day. This is obviously not new to the franchise as they ran an entire show with the theme in the 1972 series The New Scooby-Doo Movies.  Now Warner Bros. is bringing almost the entire series home.

The New Scooby-Doo Movies brought the same format of mystery solving that fans love but injected it with a fresh twist as the Mystery Inc. gang encounter some of pop culture’s most legendary names, including Jonathan Winters, Dick Van Dyke, The Three Stooges, Cass Elliot of The Mamas & the Papas, Laurel & Hardy and many more, as they embark on their mystery-solving adventures. I’ve never been a big fan of Scooby-Doo, but admit that I was more interested as a kid in watching this version of the show just to see who was going to be here next.

This collection offers up almost all of the episodes and from the quality stand point they look great. I was always amazed how well they captured the looks of the celebrity guests and how well they fit into the stories they told. These episodes were always a bit sillier than the original series, but stuck close enough to the format that it no doubt still worked for fans. Whether you are a fan of the series or not part of these greatness for me is knowing that these episodes bring these characters and actors to a whole new generation who might have never heard of them otherwise.

In addition to this collection they have also released The Best of the New Scooby-Doo Movies: The Lost Episodes that features eight never-before released episodes that are now available together on DVD for the first time.  Fans of Scooby-Doo can’t get enough of the Mystery Inc. Gang teaming up with stellar celebrity guest stars who help them solve the most intriguing cases. In The Best of the Scooby-Doo Movies: The Lost Episodes, the gang joins forces with heartthrob Davy Jones as well as Josie and the Pussycats. The magical duo of Jeannie and Babu help rescue the gang in an ancient pyramid. Help Scooby-Doo search high and low for all the fun and hijinks with these eight lost episodes.

All of these episodes are also included on the almost Complete Collection that also includes featurettes that add to the fun. Grab your copy of both The New Scooby-Doo Movies: The (Almost) Complete Collection and The Best of the Scooby-Doo Movies: The Lost Episodes available now from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.
