There are few comedy duo’s that have stood the test of time like Cheech and Chong. Their hilarious albums still hold up today and with a film career that took them through seven films. Now Paramount is bringing this original 1978 classic Up in Smoke home with a 40th Anniversary Edition.

Up in Smoke follows Cheech and Chong who meet up by chance on the highway somewhere in California. They go in search of some dope and are accidentally deported to Mexico where in their desperation to get home they agree to drive a van back to the States so they can get back in time for a gig they are due to play. Unaware of the properties from which the van is constructed they make their way back having aquired a couple of female hitch-hikers whilst all the time avoiding the cops whom they are not even aware are following them. While this film may not have done well when it was originally released there is no denying that it is a classic and still holds up today.

These guys are hilarious together and this first big screen outing showcases not only their great chemistry but comedic timing that made them one of the greatest comedy duos of all time. This entire film offers up all the fun anitcs and silliness they had already become famous for with their albums. For those that didn’t know this film is built around these famed albums creating a story that gives fans a chance to see them come to life and set the path to an iconic series of films that brought the stoner genre to the forefront.
