Leonardo DiCaprio continues to be one of the best actors around with numerous award nominations and outstanding performances. In 2013 he teamed up with Martin Scorsese for one of their many collaborations The Wolf of Wall Street. The film features a great cast including Jonah Hill, Margot Robbie, Matthew McConaughey, Kyle Chandler, Rob Reiner, and Jean Dujardin. Now Paramount is giving the award winning film the 4K treatment, but does it add more to the film or will it be a failed investment?

The Wolf of Wall Street follows Jordan Belfort teamed who with his partner Donny Azoff, started brokerage firm Stratton Oakmont. Their company quickly grows from a staff of 20 to a staff of more than 250 and their status in the trading community and Wall Street grows exponentially. So much that companies file their initial public offerings through them. As their status grows, so do the amount of substances they abuse, and so do their lies. They draw attention like no other, throwing lavish parties for their staff when they hit the jackpot on high trades. That ultimately leads to Belfort featured on the cover of Forbes Magazine, being called "The Wolf Of Wall St.". With the FBI onto Belfort's trading schemes, he devises new ways to cover his tracks and watch his fortune grow. Belfort ultimately comes up with a scheme to stash their cash in a European bank. But with the FBI watching him like a hawk, how long will Belfort and Azoff be able to maintain their elaborate wealth and luxurious lifestyles?

I love this movie for so many reasons. The performances across the board are all so great, but being a fan of Jonah Hill it made me so happy to see him get to continue to shine during this point in his career in a new path that he has continued to this day. DiCaprio is as good as ever bringing so many chaotic layers to the role in the best way possible. His sequence on drugs crawling down stairs into a Lamborghini alone shows his dedication to the craft and is hilarious to watch.

This film also shined the light on Margot Robbie who was front and center and stole every scene she was in. It is no surprise that she has gone onto such big things now. Even smaller roles like that of McConaughey stand out showcasing the power of their talents and the film itself. The fact this film is based on a true story is insane and even more compelling. The Belfort character is not likable or redeemable, but yet you cannot help but be intrigued by his story and all that he did.

This new release looks excellent in stunning 4K. It’s not necessarily the kind of film that benefits from the hi-def in regards to effects, but still looks great. In addition to the film on 4K, it also offers up all the previously released bonus content and the film on digital.

Grab your copy of The Wolf of Wall Street when it hits 4K for the first time on December 14th from Paramount Home Entertainment.
