WellGo USA continues to churn out some of the best martial arts films out there and show no sign of slowing down. In 2015 they released the action film Wolf Warrior starring Wu Jing and Scott Adkins that was a great blend of martial arts and gun fights. Now Wu Jing has returned to both star and direct the next chapter of the action series with Wolf Warrior 2 and this time bringing along Frank Grillo, but does it deliver more of the same action or will it be a suicide mission not worth gearing up for?

Wolf Warrior 2 follows China's deadliest Special Forces operative who settles into a quiet life on the sea. When sadistic mercenaries begin targeting nearby civilians, he must leave his newfound peace behind and return to his duties as a soldier and protector. I really dig the first film but have to say I think this one is a lot better. It felt like the action was bigger and better thought out this time around. The story is a bit all over the place at times, but always finds its way back on track. The action offers up a lot more martial arts action this time around and plenty of gun toting action to please all the action lovers out there.

It kicks off with a cool underwater sequence before slowing down for a bit. This allows the audience to get caught up with where he is now after the events of the first film before throwing him back into the action. There are so many great action moments here including some fun tank on tank action and a fight between Jing and Grillo that is great fun to watch. Much like the previous film it is more of a military action flick that martial arts, but have no fear it is there.

I really enjoyed this next chapter and was surprised how heavy it gets at times, There is a moment late in the film that is heart wrenching watching what these people put themselves through for freedom. If you have never seen the first one you can still watch this without too many issues, but seeing this characters journey will make a bit more sense if you had.
